Founded in 1941, the National Speleological Society is the largest organization in the world dedicated to the exploration, preservation and conservation of caves. Our society's 10,000 members include scientists, cartographers, explorers, and cave enthusiasts from the United States and around the world. This summer, from July 16-23, members of the NSS will gather in Ely, Nevada USA to celebrate the society's 75th Anniversary.
The 2016 anniversary convention allows our members to collaborate and share information about trends in speleological science, art, literature, safety and techniques. This fusion of science, art and social events is the highlight of our annual calendar.
We hope you can join us.
It doesn’t matter if this is your first-time convention or if you’re a seasoned veteran; when cavers gather in the heart of this western state, the 2016 NSS 75th Anniversary will offer something for everyone!
We have extended the early registration discount (again) until Friday, July 1 to allow us time to finish the online registration software.
Online registration is still being programmed, but this should get you started. It actually saves the society some money if you mail it in.
To join our mailing list, just create a free login account on this site. We'd love to send you occasional updates about our event!

The 4,500-acre park is at an elevation of 7,300 feet in the Schell Creek Range adjacent to the Humboldt National Forest. Its name is derived from the several caves in the surrounding limestone.
